The Irish Dairy Board (IDB) is the major international exporter of Irish dairy products. A commercial co-operative, its function is to market the products of its member manufacturing co-operatives and dairy companies and thereby generate the maximum return for the primary producers.

It owns the internationally established Kerrygold brand, the Irish dairy industry’s most important marketing asset. Its product portfolio can be divided into three main segments: consumer business and food ingredients and DPI Distribution (USA).

One of Ireland's biggest exporters, with an annual turnover in excess of €2 billion, the IDB has a number of packing and distribution subsidiaries in the UK, on mainland Europe and within the United States.

The expansion of quality food supply is top of the world’s agenda today and Ireland, with its low cost, sustainable, grass based dairy industry, is well placed to supply dairy foodstuffs into the future.

Worldwide urbanisation is intensifying and fewer people are growing their own food.  Ethnic diets are changing and leaning toward the western model. Demand for convenient quality food products, and for higher nutritional values, is growing daily. Dairy products are considered excellent sources of nutrition and the demand for these is expected to increase in the years ahead.
