Role & Key Responsibilities

I manage and develop a number of B2B customers in both the EU and third country markets. The objective is to develop excellent relationships and awareness of growth opportunities with our customers. The role requires a deep understanding of customer insights, competitive landscapes, commodity market fundamentals, competitor activity and market regulation. It involves close co-operation with subsidiaries, manufactures and distributors in various markets.

A key responsibility is to build strong relationships with customers through regular market visits. Good day-to-day working relationships are needed particularly with internal IDB Customer Service, Procurement, Technical and Finance Teams.

How has your career/role developed during your time-to-date in IDB?

My career and responsibilities have developed extensively over the last number of years. From starting with just a market visit to Egypt three years ago, I now look after all the North African cheese ingredients business. Parts of the EU and the Middle East also fall under my remit. The exposure to world market dynamics that the IDB gives you is second to none; my understanding of key market drivers has developed quickly. Exposure to various cultural differences has developed me both professionally and personally.

As dairy exports look set to continue to grow in Ireland, the IDB is determined to be at the forefront of this and this will provide me with further opportunities to develop my career with the IDB.

What do you enjoy most about working for IDB?

Being able to experience different cultures and countries that may never have otherwise been possible; to work in an organisation that is dynamic and proactive in an ever changing global marketplace - this brings daily challenges which can be difficult, but welcome, and; to be part of the Irish dairy industry that will play a key role in growing exports.

Also very importantly, to work with colleagues who are supportive, energetic and social.
